Top-floor flat, no lift
Couldn't have asked for more from these guys. We were moving out of a top (2nd) floor flat with no lift and it was not easy, hence us hiring professionals. We have nothing but positives to say, Kirk's team (Rob & Ash) worked so hard, and deserve all the praise. …

Your details go to the removals firm.
The firm gets in touch about your move. It takes calls from 9am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, and quotes after a survey, at your home or by video link.

Agree a written quote, then plan the day.
Ask for any quote in writing before you agree to it. Then check where the van can stand at both ends, using the parking questions below.
Costs
What does a move in Poole cost?
The firm quotes after it has seen your home, at your home or by video link with no app to download. It publishes no price list, because the price depends on what you are moving and the access at each end. Ask for that quote in writing, with the date, both addresses and whether packing and taking furniture apart are included.

Are my things insured during the move?
The firm says it is fully insured, including goods in transit and public liability. Ask for the cover details in writing before you book.
Will my floors and doors be protected?
The firm says it provides protective equipment as standard, and its website lists protection for floors and doors as part of careful packing. It uses its own packing materials, and offers to collect the boxes after the move.
… taking great care to protect floors, walls, doors and furniture throughout the entire move.

Questions
Moving in Poole: your questions
Can a removals van park on double yellow lines in Poole?
Ask the council first. BCP Council's daily waiver lets tradespeople park on single or double yellow lines and in resident bays for the day, but the page does not say whether a house move counts. It is not valid in loading bays, on yellow lines with a loading ban, at bus stops or on council housing land. You apply by phone, and it covers one vehicle, one day and one place. A waiver does not guarantee a space. Ask the council whether a house move qualifies before you plan on one.
Can I get a parking bay held for moving day?
Ask the council, because its terms do not mention house moves. BCP Council lists a parking suspension among the temporary traffic restrictions that need a formal notice or order, and its terms are written for works. As read in November 2026, they ask for at least 8 weeks before the works start for a notice of one to five days, and 10 weeks for an order. A fee is charged if pay and display bays are suspended.
How far ahead should I book removals?
Ask each firm how much notice it needs, and start asking as soon as you have a date or a window. If parking outside either home is tight, allow time for the council as well (see the question above on holding a bay). So check the parking before you fix the date with the van.
What should I know about moving to or from Poole Quay?
BCP Council closes Poole Quay to motor vehicles from 1 April to 31 October, between 10am and 10pm. The traffic order has been in force since 3 November 2025. The council's page lists no exemptions or loading hours in the closure itself. Moving to or from the Quay in those months? Ask the council what applies to a loading vehicle before you pick a date and time, and tell the removals firm about the closure.
Are many homes in Poole flats?
In some parts of Poole, over half. In the 2021 Census, 55% of households in Canford Cliffs ward lived in a purpose-built block of flats. In Poole Town ward it was 51%, in Parkstone 35%, in Hamworthy 23% and in Broadstone 8%. If you live in a flat, tell the removals firm which floor you are on. Ask what they need to know about the stairs, the lift and where the van can stand outside the block. The census does not record lifts, so check yours. Source: Office for National Statistics, 2021 wards; the percentages are worked out from its counts.
What should I tell the removals firm about a Sandbanks address?
Give the exact address and describe how your drive runs. The council's 2009 conservation appraisal describes Sandbanks as joined to the mainland by a narrow arm at Banks Road. The same document says private drives that wind through plots are characteristic of the Panorama Road area. Ask the firm whether the vehicle it plans to use can reach your door. The appraisal dates from 2009, and the roads have not been surveyed for this page.
How do I find out if my new road is in a Poole permit zone?
Check your road on BCP Council's eligibility list, which sets out the roads in each zone. Many residential areas of Poole are part of a permit zone, and the council names its Poole zones by area, among them Old Town, Sterte, Heckford Park, Ashley Road and Wallisdown. To confirm you live in the area, the council checks Council Tax or Electoral Roll records. If you have only just moved to the area, it says it will accept a schedule of insurance showing your name and address as proof of vehicle ownership.
How do I check the parking rules on my own road?
BCP Council says all current traffic restrictions across its area are on its Traffweb site, and its traffic team answers questions about them. Look up your old road and your new one before moving day. Look for loading bans as well as yellow lines, because the council's tradesperson waiver is not valid on yellow lines where a loading ban is in force.
Is it worth paying for a removal company?
Set the written quotes against the full cost of doing it yourself. Count the stairs and any lift at each end, and how far from the door a van can park. Add the distance between the two homes, the cost of hiring a van, the help you would need to load it, and the time off work. Ask each firm what its quote covers, so you compare like with like.
What should I ask a removals firm before I book?
Ask for the quote in writing. Ask what insurance cover the firm holds for your belongings while they are moved, and ask to see it. Ask whether drawers can stay full, what it will not move, and what it charges for packing or taking furniture apart. Ask what deposit it wants and when the balance is due. Put every question in writing and keep the replies, so you can compare firms like with like.
What happens to the four details I send?
They go to one removals firm, so it can get in touch about your move. The form asks for the postcode you are moving from, the postcode you are moving to, the size of the move and a phone number. The privacy notice sets out who receives your details, why, and how long they are kept.
